How the Race Unfolded.
A tail wind assisted riders out to the turn at Landsborough West, with most bunches close to expected handicap times, except for second scratch who lost Tony Lloyd early on due to an injury. However, they were still only about 30 seconds down on expected time.
On the return journey into the wind the wheels fell off a bit for the second scratch riders who were caught by scratch at the top of the first long hill, with about 13km to go.
The second limit riders caught the limit riders with about 8 kilometers to go, after the limit riders stopped for a nature break!
The outstanding ride of the day was the two second limit riders Meg Parnaby and John McIntyre who went on to win by 1 minute 45 seconds from scratch, who also rode very well. Meg Parnaby took line honours from John McIntyre and Kevin Grellet.
Fastest time went to Peter Wemyss from Frank Kean.
