How the Race Unfolded.
The limit riders were caught by the second limit riders at the halfway turn, after loosing Peter Mayo early. Both second scratch and scratch were close to but slightly down on expected times compared to the second limit bunch at the turn. On the return journey the combined limit bunches seemed to hold their lead well until the hills, when second scratch started to noticeably make up time.
With about 3 kilometers to go the second scratch bunch well and truly had the leaders in their sights, but just failed by about 50 meters to catch them at the line.
Meg Paranby took out the win from Alan Barnett and Les Dunn. Second scratch was about 7 seconds behind, with scratch having made up lots of ground to finish another 30 seconds back. Steve Monks took fastest time from Peter Wemyss.
