How the Race Unfolded.
A strong westerly wind pushed the riders out to the turn, and provided a challenge on the return journey. The limit riders managed to average just over 29kph to the turn, but were down on both of the next 2 bunches.

Aidan Leahy, riding second scratch, was on fire, and blew the race apart, aided by Danny Monaghan and Drew Heard. They pick up the second scratch riders just over the Sandbar Hill on the return journey, with about 10km to go, then the limit riders on McKrackens Hill, with about 6km to go.

The second scratch bunch went on to win, with Danny Monaghan just pipping Leahy on the line, to take the win from Leahy and Drew Heard.

Scratch finished 2 minutes later with Frank Kean taking fastest time.
