How the Race Unfolded.
A light side head wind made for slower times out to the turn at Landsborough West. The limit riders, with two new recruits and thus a relatively unknown quantity to the handicappers, did well but were a little down on expected time, with the second limit pair of Parnaby and Dunn only a little over a minute behind.
However it still took the second limit riders the next 10km to catch the limit riders, with both bunches joining forces on the first long hill on the return journey. Five kilometers later, at the top of the next long hill with about 8 kilometers to go, the 3rd scratch riders caught the combined limit bunches.
Further back the second scratch riders had parted, with David Lambourn riding solo and holding off the 2 remaining scratch riders until only a few kilometers to go.
Tony Lloyd took out the sprint easily from Dean Hayward and Les Dunn, with Frank Kean recording fastest race time.
