How the Race Unfolded.
The riders faced a side/head wind on the outward journey until they turned south at Warrak and into the head wind.
After Peter Mayo withdrew part way into the race, Meg Parnaby turned first at the halfway mark, with a lead of 4 minutes 40 seconds over Danny and Edwin. Scratch was 4 minutes 45 seconds further back.
On the return hill climb, Edwin Irvine took off for home after an out of from Danny Monaghan struggled up the hill. Monaghan was caught a few kilometres after the hill with about 11 kilometers to go, but Meg Parnaby and Edwin Irvine were still well up the road.
Irvine caught Parnaby with about 4 kilometres to go, then scratch caught Parnaby with about 2 kilometres to go, but Irvine hung on for a hard earned win by 25 seconds over Sean Prins, Steve Monks and Frank Kean.
