How the Race Unfolded.
The two scratch riders Peter Wemyss and Sean Prins set off at top speed, trying to bridge the gap on the 3 second scratch riders, as the longer the race progressed, the less likely they would be able to close the gap. They took off 25 seconds in the first 7km, then another 10 seconds in the next 5km, then eventually caught them at about 24km into the race, just before the mid way turn.
Meanwhile the 3rd scratch riders had also caught the 2nd limit riders right on the turn, but were still 4:30 minutes behind the now lone limit rider, Meg Parnaby, as Peter Mayo had retired after about 15km.
On the return journey, the combined scratch and second scratch riders caught the combined 3rd scratch and 2nd limit riders with about 5km still to go, then the limit rider Meg Parnaby with 2km still to go.
In the final sprint, Edwin Irvine just go to the line ahead of Peter Wemyss and Sean Prins, with Wayne Klauss in 4th place.
Edwin Irvine - 1 hour 12 minutes 53 seconds

Peter Wemyss- 1 hour 8 minutes 8 seconds
