How the Race Unfolded.

Windy north westerly conditions greated riders for the out and back 44.5km Fyans Creek course, with the threatening showers holding off until after the race.

The strong winds ended up favouring the larger middle bunch, which was slightly up on time over the limit riders at the turn, with scratch about 30 seconds down, but the return journey was 1.5km shorter as the race finished before the bridge.

At the Mount Dryden turn the middle bunch was only 45 seconds behind the limit riders, with about 5.5km still to go, and scratch a further 1 minute 40 seconds behind.

The middle bunch finally caught the limit riders with 2.5km to go, with Drew Heard once again proving too strong for Edwin Irvine in the sprint. Crystal Wemyss took out third place over Dean Hayward.
