A small group of seven riders turned out to tackle the 46K Concongella handicap, the last race before a short winter break.
Fine but windy conditions made for difficult racing conditions.
With so few riders, the handicapper divided the field up into two bunches, considering the windy conditions would make it too tough for riders grouped in pairs.
First away was Meg Parnaby, Damian Rabl and new rider Laura White, with Peter Wemyss, Dean Hayward, Drew Heard and Gary Brumby chasing, eleven and a half minutes later.
Both bunches found the wind testing and did not get any assistance from it until they had passed Vinelea Road with about 10 kilometres to go.
At this point the scratch riders were nowhere in sight of the front bunch who then pushed their advantage, knowing that scratch would come home very fast.
In the last kilometre Parnaby rode away on the final two rises and took the win with Damian Rabl second. Laura White came home third still well clear of the scratch riders, who finished one and a half minutes later.
The sprint for fastest time went to Peter Wemyss, who just edged out Dean Hayward, in a time of one hour, seventeen minutes and thirty seconds.
