Due to the predicted heat, an 8am
start was the order of the day, and the cool, calm
conditions were always going to favour the limit riders.
Limit markers Meg
Parnaby and Les Power made good use of their 16 minute
mark and finished
well clear of the field, with Parnaby taking out the
sprint to the line.
The four
minute bunch of Leon Gibson, Tony Lloyd and Tom Eldridge
worked well to hold off the backmarkers, with Gibson
taking out third placing across the line.
Scratchmen
Frank Kean, Alan Barnett and Daryl Elliott pulled
out a big effort in the closing stages of the race,
to chase down the 1 ¼ minute
markers Peter Parnaby, Gerard O’Brien and Drew
Heard, with Barnett taking out fastest time of 1 hour
15 minutes.
