Daryl Elliot takes out A grade
event.
Armstrong - Sunday 29th
April 07
A small field of riders at
Armstrong tackled the 50km A and B grade scratch races,
and the 28km C grade scratch race.
Held over a picturesque
undulating course, the A and B grade riders covered
7 laps of the course, while the C grade riders covered
4 laps.

All riders set off together, with the C grade riders
soon dropping off the back of the main pack to fight
out their own race.
The main pack stayed together for
most of the race, despite a few attempts to break away
up a steeper grade on the far side of the course.
On
the 5th lap, Frank Kean, Drew Heard and Steve Monks
did manage to break away for several kilometres, but
were chased down by the main pack, largely due to the
efforts of Alan Barnett and Danny Monaghan.
The race came down to the final sprint, with Daryl
Elliot getting the better of Drew Heard to take line
honours in the A grade race.
Danny Monaghan got the better of Tony Lloyd for the
B grade sprint.
Meanwhile in the C grade event, Meg Parnaby broke away
on the second lap up the long rise to the railway line,
and managed to maintain her lead for the next two laps
to take first place. Ross Lumley was second.
