The Grampians Veterans Cycling Club is affiliated with Veteran Cycling Victoria (VCV), and the Australian Veterans Cycling Council (AVCC), so membership with the Grampians Vets gives you an AVCC licence, entitling you to compete with any Vets club in Victoria or Australia that is affiliated with the AVCC.
The VCV is the controlling body for Veteran Cycling in Victorian and the AVCC is the umbrella organisation for Veteran Cycling in Australia.
Membership is open to women 30 years and older, and men 35 years and older. Membership lasts from the 1st of January each year, to the 31st of December. Ages are taken from the 1st of January each year, so if you were to turn 40 in November 2014, then you are deemed to be 40 from the 1st of January to the 31st of December 2014.
First Time Membership
If you are joining for the first time, or have let your membership lapse and wish to rejoin, you can join after the 1st of October for the following year, that is you get 15 months membership instead of 12 months for the first year. This is so that riders do not have to wait until after the 1st of January to race if they wish to join late in the year, in which case they would otherwise have had to pay full membership for only a few months. For more information on online registration see below.
New riders who have not raced in any AVCC affiliated race in the last 5 years are entitled to two free trial races (with the one club) within a calendar month, without joining a club. They will be asked each time to complete a form which will provide insurance for that day. After the trial rides they will need to join a Vets club to continue racing.
